By Flight

The quickest way to get from San Jose to Santa Teresa is by air. Both Sansa Airlines and Green Airways offer daily flights. These scenic flights will take about 25 minutes and cost around $100. Once you land in Tambor, it’s a 40 minute drive to Santa Teresa.

From here, one option is to rent a car through Budget (the only car rental service onsite at the Tambor Airport). Another option would be to call a taxi or Uber which will cost about $30-50.

By Car / Shuttle / Ferry

If you plan on renting a car from the airport, the bestt way to get to Santa Teresa is by taking Route 27 to Puntarenas (60-90 minutes). When you get to Puntarenas, you’ll come to a ferry station. Purchase a ticket and take the ferry across the gulf to Paquera (45-60 minutes).  Ferry schedules vary depending on the season so plan accordingly. Here is the schedule and rates.

When you get off the ferry, follow Route 621 for about 60 minutes. Take your first left after crossing the Cobano River. Continue until you reach the crossroads for Mal Pais and Santa Teresa. Take a right onto Las Piedras Road and follow for about 10 minutes. We are located right in front of Kika Restaurant and Denga Surf Shop.

Costa Rica also offers private shuttle services, such as Tropical Tours Shuttles, which will take you directly from San Jose to Santa Teresa for about $50. Tropical Tours Shuttles also has a water taxi service that runs once a day from Jaco to Montezuma.
